ZERO BASELINE OF PHOTOGRAPHY by Patricia von Ah
Shaping the future of photography’s past: A journey through the Zero Baseline of Photography
As we approach the 200th anniversary of photography in 2027, SEETHINK Lab introduces the Zero Baseline of Photography, a pioneering initiative aimed at redefining our engagement with photography's transformative journey. Anchored in the core principles of phenomenology, time, transparency, and transcendence, this project challenges us to perceive the first scientific and artistic photographs not just as historical milestones but as vibrant dialogues between the observer and the visual narrative. Our mission is to not only revisit photography's key moments but to reimagine them, envisioning a future where photography remains a vital medium of discovery and inspiration, encouraging a deeper connection between the viewer and the essence of seeing.
The SEETHINK Lab is an interdisciplinary research initiative founded by Patricia von Ah, dedicated to exploring phenomenological experiences and the influences of optical observation, particularly through the lens of advancements in scientific and artistic photography. Its objectives revolve around the investigation of first photographs, defining moments within the evolution of photography. With the aim to preserve, provide, and distribute curated photographic evidence of the origins and development of photography as a source of information, education, and inspiration for generations of today and tomorrow.
